Dr Matthew Beadman
Matthew is a consultant clinical psychologist specialising in
the assessment and treatment of psychological and emotional
difficulties arising from personal injury, critical illness/ICU
admission, clinical negligence, major trauma, and cardiac
illness, including PTSD and other emotional disorders. He has
held clinical lead positions in clinical psychology services
within intensive care, major trauma, musculoskeletal
rehabilitation (including limb loss), cardiac, and chronic pain
services. Matthew now works exclusively within these clinical
areas, providing both treating clinician and expert witness
services. Matthew has co-authored book chapters, national
reports and guidelines advising on the psychological
management of major trauma and critical care patients.
Regarding work with organisations and teams, Matthew led a
NHS Trust’s psychological care of patients, families and NHS
staff through the COVID-19 pandemic and both developed
and led specialist services designed to optimise healthcare
team functioning through the pandemic. He provides
organisational interventions and psychological skills training
programmes to FTSE 100 organisations and other NHS Trusts
to improve health, performance, and staff experience at work.
